Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a fungus which grows mainly on birch trees in cold climates of the Northern hemisphere, and has a symbiotic relationship with them. It has been used as a traditional remedy for centuries to build the immune system and improve health. It’s unique balance of nutritional properties acts like food for the immune system.

Indigenous Shamans in Siberia gave Chaga the title of 'King of Mushrooms'. It has been used for  fuel and making drums as well as for its medicinal purposes. Chaga is rich in fibre, amino acids, vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, iron, magnesium, potassium, manganese, calcium, rubidium, caesium, copper, selenium and zinc. It also has very high levels of melanin, which has one of the highest oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) scores of any food. (The ORAC scale measures the antioxidant capacity of foods.) It is also very high in polysaccharides and polyphenols.

Although mainly used as support for the immune system, Chaga is also known for its beneficial effects for improving the digestive system, aiding detoxification, improving the health and appearance of hair and skin, boosting energy, fighting inflammation, lowering blood sugar, reducing blood pressure, alleviating arthritis, preventing or slowing the progression of certain liver problems, diabetes, lowering cholesterol, and regulating cytokine production (another part of the immune system)

Our Chaga is wild-crafted from chemical-free forests. It makes a beautifully tasting natural tea which is the perfect way to start the day and to protect your body from stress, illness, ageing and toxicity.

Caution should be used for people who suffer from kidney disease when using Chaga.
